Where Infinity New Tab is the better choice
- You navigate by shortcuts and want dozens of them on one page.
- You want weather, a to-do list, a notepad and Gmail notifications on the new tab.
- You want your setup synced across computers.
- You want to choose or upload your own wallpapers.
Where BirdTab is the better choice
- You want a calm page with one thing to look at, not a grid.
- You want sound: each bird’s recorded call, with quiet hours.
- You want to learn something: each bird’s name, facts and conservation status, and the birds of your own country.
- You want no account and no partner shortcuts. BirdTab’s listing says it collects no personal data.
Switching from Infinity New Tab
Install BirdTab from the Chrome Web Store and open a new tab; choose BirdTab when Chrome asks. Turn Infinity off in chrome://extensions rather than removing it, so your grid is still there if you switch back.
Add the sites you use most as BirdTab shortcuts; the rest are in your bookmarks bar. What you lose: Infinity’s large icon grid, weather, notepad and Gmail notifications.

Why does Infinity New Tab show eBay shortcuts?
